The “Queen Elizabeth” back in service


queen_elizabethHamburg – It has been confirmed that the “Queen Elizabeth” will leave on June 1st the Blohm Voss shipyard in Hamburg directed first to Southampton from where will be headed few day later to Amsterdam.
This is the first cruise after the repair works carried out at the Blohm Voss shipyard in Hamburg in the course of which have been modified some internal public areas including the Lido Deck, the casino, the main restaurant, the upper deck and outdoor shopping center.
The “Queen Elizabeth”, delivered in 2010 to the Cunard Line in 2010 at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard, is 294 meters long overall, 32 wide, 92 thousand tons tonnage and can sail at a maximum speed of 23.7 knots on board as well as hosting 3,000 passengers and crew members.

The value of the contract awarded by Cunard to Blohm Voss is approximately EUR 30 million, including the installation of sophisticated filtering of exhaust gases by use of scrubbers.
